They found an increased risk of BC for tap water consumption, and this was consistently found in the six studies analyzed. A total tap water intake more than 2.01 L/day increased the risk of BC in 50% compared to total tap water ingestion less than 0.5 L/day. The association of tap water ingestion but not with nontap water fluids suggested to the authors that the increased risk observed in tap water intake was related to carcinogens diluted in such type of fluids (Villanueva et al. 2006).

Nevertheless, due to inconclusive results even of the systematic reviews, future studies on BC should investigate the effect of food categorization, quantity consumed, and gender differences.
